How the calculation works
- Array capacity in kW DC = module count × rated module watts ÷ 1,000.
- Annual generation = array capacity × entered final annual yield.
- Annual energy equivalence = generation ÷ annual household use × 100.
What the result assumes
- Starting values are illustrative inputs, not a measured roof assessment or a regional production forecast.
- The final yield must already account for the chosen model’s orientation, shade, equipment and losses. Do not subtract the same losses twice.
- Annual energy equivalence compares yearly totals. It does not establish hourly matching, on-site use or bill reduction.
- This model does not measure a roof, select equipment, check electrical capacity or approve micro-generation eligibility.
Check before using the result
- Use a whole number of modules and positive annual yield and electricity use.
- Generation above annual household use needs a sizing and eligibility review with the actual distributor.
Carry all inputs and results into an editable solar brief, with the source of each input labelled.
